Blossoming magic

I used to be a current events and news junkie but, in recent years, I’ve been more selective about how much media I consume in order to conserve and protect my energy.

Despite being so conscientious about where I place my attention, one day last week, I was really feeling the intensity of the collective suffering under the current political regime. The chaos surrounding so many of us, and especially the most vulnerable among us, felt very heavy.

That afternoon, I picked up my kid from school feeling a bit stunned and like I was moving through molasses.

When we got home, she started rehearsing her part in a drama class skit and I semi-reluctantly agreed to read the other lines in the dialogue.

Well, the piece was so funny that I could barely say my lines without laughing—like fully-snorting laughing!

And just like that, my energy completely shifted and returned to a more harmonious frequency. And from this place of balance, I can be of greater service.

It was a reminder that laughter is a great healer.

And a sense of humor is part of the intrinsic medicine that we all hold within.

Even in the face of great turmoil, it’s important to embrace your lightheartedness—in addition to your seriousness—as part of your whole self.

And when you fully accept your wholeness, true magic begins to emerge.
