The key to healing
Do you know the main ingredient in the secret sauce of healing?
It’s so simple.
.
.
.
Love.
After spending over two decades on a path of healing from anxiety, trauma, and autoimmune disease, the common thread that’s allowed me to move closer to wellness is simply the radical acceptance of unconditional love.
This is not confined to romantic love, but it’s the kind of love that compels me to wholeheartedly embrace myself and all beings with acceptance and compassion.
This is a counter-cultural notion in a world that, intentionally or not, has a bias toward fear. This fear, which is in opposition to love, keeps us feeling inadequate, unhealed, and unworthy.
For example, being well into my forties, I’m keenly aware of society’s deep-seated fear of aging. I am reminded every time I look in the mirror and see a new gray hair sprouting. I have yet to dye my hair (and I’m not saying I never will!), but for now, I’m adopting a conscious practice of loving each strand and honoring its presence as a marker of well-earned wisdom.
Opening yourself up to the potent healing frequency of love requires a shift in perspective.
How do you change that perspective? That’s entirely up to you and your divine guidance. But here are a few things that have helped me recalibrate toward a vibration of love:
Journaling
Dancing—the kind that makes you sweat
Soul-connected singing
Reiki
Practicing mindfulness (listen to this quick podcast where I talk about simple and free ways to practice mindfulness here)
And maybe, as you go about your day, just notice with each action and interaction—does this propel me toward fear or love?
