A conscious woman-owned gift guide
Money is an energy. So I try to spend it consciously in support of businesses that align with the values of balance, consciousness, and compassion.
I hope you’ll join me supporting these beloved women-owned brands who are all, in their own magical way, working to bring greater harmony to this world.
In some ways, this gift guide has been years in the making—I know many of these makers personally and am thrilled to share their talents and crafts with you.
Note: None of these are affiliate links. They are all brands that I sincerely admire and I’m honored to sing their praises.
THE SPIRAL PATH
These beautiful flower essences from visionary intuitive Samantha Boersma make you feel deeply held by the intentional frequencies of plants. They can really add a dose of gentle oomph to any healing journey. I love the UNITE Signature Set for balancing the masculine and the feminine within.
ANIMA MUNDI HERBALS
I drink herbal tea all day long and love these loose leaf teas from Anima Mundi, founded by herbalist Adriana Ayales. The Calm Tea blend is a wonderful stress relief tonic with holy basil, chamomile, ashwagandha, and more. They also have many nutritive beauty products and organic essential oils.
FIRESIDE HEALING
These small-batch, reiki-infused products are made locally in NJ by herbalist Liz Pratt. I’ve been using the Aphrodite Face Oil and my skin is very happy about it. It’s a bit lighter than my usual rosehip oil—this one has rose, jojoba and pomegranate oil—and absorbs very gently and nourishingly into the skin.
LOVINAH
These gorgeous products are plant-based yet very luxurious and are “inspired by Africa, driven by science.” Right now, I’m using the Dragon’s Blood Brightening Tonic and also highly recommend the Ocean Rituals AHA & BHA Exfoliating Cleansing Balm.
FACIALS
I don’t use much makeup but I love skincare. These magical women are extraordinarily talented, knowledgeable, and use all natural products. Get a gift certificate (or suggest one for yourself!) to see Evelyn Gatzonis at Rejuvenate Face & Body in Astoria or Sarah Clark at Stillpoint Beauty in Chelsea in NYC.
KAMI SPEER
If I’m asleep, there’s a 99% chance I’m in a Kami Speer nightgown. I find them so lovingly protective and energetically supportive during dreamtime. This super soft Signature Channeled Nightgown is locally made in NYC. I also highly recommend her Naturally Hand-Dyed Wraps, which can be worn year-round, are perfect for travel, and feel like you’re wearing a hug.
SWEET SKINS HEMP
I love these organic hemp pieces which are handmade with low-impact dyes in Oregon. On any given day there’s a 90% chance that I’m wearing either the High Rise Leggings or the Bike Times pant. So comfortable! Someone in your life will love these, too.
MOON STUDIO
When the weather gets cooler, I wear this R.I.P. Patriarchy Oversized Sweatshirt basically non-stop. It is that comfortable and inspiring. Made by artist and witch, Sarah Faith Gottesdiener, this sweatshirt is a spell for a new day. I also love her Many Moons Lunar Planner.
ELIZABETH SUZANN
I’m obsessed with these high-quality linen pieces and wear this Harper Tunic year-round (layered under long sleeves in the winter). All of Elizabeth Suzann’s garments are responsibly made using renewable resources.
ZKANO
Anyone else get endless joy from a fun pair organic cotton socks? I wear this brand daily and they make me smile every damn morning. Sustainably made in Alabama and Georgia using low-impact dyes. Note: Zkano is actually family-owned but woman-operated.
R-KI-TEKT
There is something so grounding about wooden jewelry and these architectural hand-painted pieces are substantial yet surprisingly light to wear. I love this Wooden Bead Necklace, which feels like wearing a piece of art.
RAÍZES
These truly special accessories are made from a rare natural crop known as “golden grass” from Brazil. They are so lightweight and feel like you’re wearing nature’s magic. Raízes also has a lovely storefront in Northport, NY if you’re around Long Island.
OCTAVIA’S BOOKSHELF
When I was in Buenos Aires, it was a delight to peruse the many independent bookshops in the city. Unfortunately, bookstores here in the US are now few and far between… So why not nurture a diversity of smaller shops and buy from this lovely Black-woman-owned independent bookseller or your own local bookshop?
And I highly recommend this beautiful new book Mindful Living: A Guide to the Everyday Magic of Feng Shui by Anjie Cho and Laura Morris for anyone who is into their home, which is everyone, right?
